Your Place in the Mysterious Universe
We rarely stop to think about our place in this beautiful, enormous universe. Take a seat underneath some mysterious planets from the undiscovered depths of space, juxtaposed with the dazzling flowery details of our beautiful home planet, Earth, and know that you are exactly where you are supposed to be. My team and I constructed this quirky little shack from scratch; from the frame and the background canvas and the arch canvas on the inside, to the siding and the roof on the outside. Paint covers every inch of this piece, and UV light strips engulf the interior in a mesmerizing glow. I created this installation originally for the Redmond Lights Art Festival, where festivalgoers could settle in amongst the stars and flowers.
The Monarch House
I designed this mural for this delightful little blue building in the cute little beach town of Isla Vista! Orange and blue is my absolute favorite color combination so my first thought when I saw this building was to do something boldly orange, and what's more boldly orange than a monarch butterfly? With the balcony and two windows on the left, I thought it'd be fitting to have several butterflies with their wings in different positions, starting out small but getting closer and closer up as they approached the right side of the building where more space is available. Lastly, for the little wall in the front, I thought wildflowers (including some bright orange California poppies to tie it all together) would be perfect framing for butterflies on the main house, and tie into the greenery that is planted in front of it. This mural was realized by myself and five of my peers, with a combination of spray paint and outdoor paint.

Welcome to Isla Vista
Location: Isla Vista, California
This mural was given that title because it stands on the first building on the main road into Isla Vista, so you have to drive by it to enter the town! The beach and surfer are typical for this charming little coastal town, and all of the locals are fond of raccoons because there are so many running around town so I had to add one peeking over the wall! And can you tell I'm fond of monarch butterflies? Since this mural greets you at the entrance to the town, I wanted it to be almost like a sneak peek into the little community of IV showing passers-by what is beyond the brick wall. This one was also realized by myself and a group of around 10 of my peers, using both spray paint and outdoor paint.
Game Room Graffiti Wall
I designed this mural with the help of my family for the little game room in my parents' house! My brother and sister and I used both wall paint and spray paint, combining freehand and stencil techniques to make this awesome accent wall come to life. This wall includes symbols of things that are important to each of us, such as my dog Ellie, the Coors Light for my dad, and several sports balls since we all love sports. It also includes references to the schools we attended and of course, it heavily features our family cats, Rusti and Taylor (depicted as comedy and tragedy). We couldn't resist using fluorescent colors for this project so that we could surround it with UV lights and watch it glow while we enjoy our video games!

Be Creative!
Location: Sherman Oaks, California
This is the first mural I ever painted! It was part of my Girl Scout Gold Award project when I was a senior in high school. For my project, I taught art classes to the students of Kester Elementary, and at the end they helped me paint a mural at their school. My whole project centered around encouraging kids to use their creativity, so I wanted the mural to reflect that. The three strips of tiles at the bottom are drawings that each of the students did to contribute to the mural and express their individual creativity! The responses I got from the students and parents about my program were tear-jerking; some kids who hated school were now excited to go. It was so inspiring to see the difference that art can make in children’s lives.
